Valerie Bynoe-Kasden

Prior to starting Bynoe-Kasden PLLC, Ms. Bynoe-Kasden had a distinguished public service career working in New York City and State government agencies. Her government career focused on leading large Human Resources, Labor Relations and Equal Employment Opportunity departments and programs.

Ms. Bynoe-Kasden served twice at New York City Transit, more recently as Vice President, Human Resources where she led a 200-person Human Resources Department that provided the full range of HR services for over 49,000 NYC-based employees and oversaw an $800 million health benefits program. In her prior service, she was a labor negotiator for the agency. Ms. Bynoe-Kasden was a Deputy Commissioner at the NYC Department of Homeless Services where she led the agency’s Human Resources and Labor Relations Divisions. Her New York State service included managing EEO programs and representing management at administrative hearings.

Following law school graduation in 2000, Ms. Bynoe-Kasden was an Associate in the Labor and Employment Department at Proskauer Rose LLP where she provided labor and employment counseling and handled litigation matters.

While in law school, she was a Notes & Comments Editor of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. She was also a member of the Moot Court Honor Society.

Ms. Bynoe-Kasden is committed to serving the public and is particularly interested in ensuring the availability of quality health care services in communities in Brooklyn.

To that end, she serves on the Board of Trustees of Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. In 2012, the United Hospital Fund recognized her as a Trustee of the Year for her service on Kingsbrook’s Board.

Ms. Bynoe-Kasden is certified by the Office of the General Counsel of the Veteran’s Administration to represent veterans in the preparation, presentation and prosecution of claims for VA benefits.
